Truck vs Pole

 

Nov 30th -  At 1517 hours,  while in the middle of washing the apparatus,  the "Big House" was dispatched to 1364 Frank Rd for the auto accident with possible unconscious patient. AC 48 went on scene with a pick-up truck into a pole. The driver was out of the vehicle walking around with minor injuries. Squad 41's crew secured hazards and units cleared at 1535 hours.

 


Old Engine 43 Sold

 

Nov 26th - Chief Ken Dixon of the Andover Maine Fire Company took delivery of our 1986 E-one engine. After a trip to the "Big House" in early Nov. Chief Dixon and 3 other firefighters returned to drive it home.


House Fire

 

Nov 25nd - The "Big House" was dispatched at 1142 hours to 4450 McKendrick Dr. for a possible house fire, units arrived on the scene to find a single story house with heavy smoke showing.  E45 arrived and split the crew. Crew "A" pulled an 1 1/2" line and proceeded to the basement while crew "B" pulled a 2" line to the rear bedroom.  Both crews put a quick knock on the fire. Extensive overhaul was completed.  Sta. 4 units cleared the scene at 1452 hours.

Nov 23rd - Chambersburg Emergency Services Chief John Vanlandingham resigned effective Tuesday.  Assistant Chief William Dubbs will be acting chief until a replacement is found.

Motorcycle vs Tractor Trailer

 

Nov 22nd - One person was injured in an early morning accident on Rt. 11. The 5:08am accident occurred at the intersection of Philadelphia Ave and Sunset Pike. SQ41 arrived to find a motorcycle under a tractor trailer. Crews assisted EMS with packaging the patient that was later air lifted to a trauma center. SQ41 remained on scene until PSP finished their investigation then went in service at 6:39am.


Skid Loader Fire

 

Nov 20th - E45 assisted Co 15 with a skid loader on fire inside a large storage shed. Units were dispatched at 0203 hours to 592 Pine Stump Rd. The fire did not extend into the shed. Command 15 held E15-2 and E45. The "Big House" cleared at 0234 hours.

 

    


 Christmas Parade

 

Nov 19th - Saturday night was the annual Christmas parade in town.  Members of the "Big House", and their kids, bundled up and headed out with the ladder truck to participate in the parade.  Both the big kids and the small kids enjoyed the best seat in the house.

Building Collapse

 

Nov 16th - At 1300 hours the "Big House" was sent to 651 Carbaugh Ave for a building collapse, units arrived to find approximately a 100' section on the rear of the building had collapsed.  Letterkenny Police was already on the scene reporting all occupants out. Crews confirmed all personnel were accounted for and Command 44 held Station 4. E45 remained on scene to assist with utilities then went in service at 1453 hours.

 

    


Box, MVA, MVA

 

Nov 13th - Members started the day at 0845 hours with a box in Co. 17's area, then at 1710 hours the "Big House" was alerted to 3113 Letterkenny Rd for an auto accident reported one vehicle overturned.  E45 arrived on the scene to find one vehicle off the roadway and a utility pole sheared off. E45's crew checked for hazards and assisted with patient packing and loading.  Units were available from that call at 1740 hours.

 

28 minutes later at 1808 hours the "Big House" was sent to Siloam Rd in the area of the dam for a reported auto accident.  C46 arrived on the scene to find one car into the side of the bridge.  E45's crew checked for hazards and assisted with patient care. Units cleared at 1822 hours

 


Truck 42

 

Nov 12th - Truck 42 is out of service.

Nov 10th - Another member of the "Big House" has graduated fire school. FF Amanda Murphy completed her 22 weeks of training from the Arlington County Fire Academy.  Probationer Murphy will be assigned to Engine Co. 106.


Two Members Assist With Hurricane Relief

 

Nov 7th - FF Brian Barnes and FF Robert "Huey" Brown landed in Orlando Florida Monday. They will be assisting FEMA with relief efforts from hurricane Wilma. Both Barnes and Brown will be deployed for a minimum of 30 days. The "Big House" will be awaiting their safe return.

 

    


Apartment Fire

 

Nov 6th - SQ41 responded with Co 1 for the apartment fire at 270 S. Main St. Crews arrived at 1603 hours and found a bedroom off in apt. # 3. The "Big House" put a quick knock on the fire with a line off E1-2. Members searched the exposures and vented the fire apartment. No extension was found and units cleared at 1656 hours.


Second Due House Fire

 

Nov 3rd - Some fire companies are taking joy rides throughout town on an ol' girl while the "Big House" is riding to another fire. Members woke up at 0414 hours to the 18-4 Box being sounded for a house fire. E45 arrived at 6844 LWW to find a two story single family dwelling with smoke showing from side D. Command 18 had E45's crew take interior operations. Crews opened up on the first and second floors. Found fire running the walls around a wood stove and extending into a second floor bedroom. The "Big House" extinguished fire with a line from E18-2. Units cleared at 0604 hours.
