Third Due, First In

 

August 28th - At 0057 hours communications dispatched box 7-03 for a dwelling fire at 4894 Olde Scotland Rd.  While enroute AC7 advised he could see heavy fire from the mall area.  E43 arrived on the scene and dropped 500' of supply line back the lane, then pulled the rear 2" attack line. E43's crew made an exterior attack on the fire. E43's crew assisted other departments on the scene with extinguishing the fire. Station 4 units cleared the scene at 0325 hours.


What's That Smell?

 

August 22nd - At 0449 hours Station 4 was dispatched to the 4500 block of Sunset Pike for an auto accident. While enroute Greene 15 arrived on the scene and advised of a passenger vehicle into the back of a garbage truck. SQ41 arrived on the scene to find the garbage truck's trash holding area had been punctured by the vehicle and was leaking garbage fluids. One patient was transported priority two to the hospital. SQ41's crew assisted EMS, contained the leaking truck and returned to service at 0518 hours.

 

  


Auto Accident

 

August 21st - Station 4 was dispatched at 1355 hours to the intersection of LWW and Warmspring Road for an auto accident. SQ41 arrived to find 3 autos involved and the eastbound lane blocked. SQ41 crew assisted EMS with one priority three patient. SQ41 cleared the scene at 1434 hours.


Pedestrian Accident

 

August 19th - SQ41 responded at 2200 hours to the 800 block of LWW for a pedestrian accident.  Units arrived to find one priority one patient. SQ41 crew assisted EMS in packaging and loading the patient then stood by with PSP for scene lighting. SQ41 returned to service at 2254 hours.

 


Back to Back Fires

 

August 19th - E43, T42, E45 and SQ41 responded along with Eng Co 18, 17 and SQ7 to 340 North Meadow Creek Drive for a dwelling fire. AC49 arrived at 7:10am with light smoke in the house. E43 advanced a line into the 4000 square foot home and found fire in the attic. After a quick overhaul, Command released all units at 7:52am. Units cleared just in time to respond on the second alarm for the barn fire at 878 Rowe Rd, Box 15-1. E45 set up a fill site and flowed 128,000 gallons of water while T42 set up on the C/D corner for ladder pipe operations. E45 and T42 were alerted at 8:08am and cleared 12:23am.

Are We Done Yet

 

August 17th - Firefighters battled temps in the 90's while they performed extensive overhaul at Building 350 on Letterkenny Army Depot. Co 13, 11, Sta 4, T42, T1 and SQ15 were alerted at 10:39am for fire in the building. Co 13 found a working fire. T42 laddered the roof while the crew met up with E43 and worked with Co 13 to knock down the fire. SQ15 used the stick to open the roof and Co 11 overhauled the interior. Command 13 had T42 and SQ15 cut a 15' x 15' hole in the double layered metal roof to complete overhaul on the building. After a quick wet down with class A foam, units went in service at 2:14pm.


Two Close Calls

 

August 15th - A vehicle traveling south in the 2400 block of Molly Pitcher Highway struck a parked car with enough force to push the passenger's door into the driver's door and smash 2 other parked cars. SQ41 and E43 arrived at 12:41pm to find a ruptured gas tank and only one injury. E43 stood by with a charged handline while SQ41 responded to 1910 Powell Dr for the reported apartment fire. Co 1 units arrived at 1:06pm to find heavy smoke in the apartment. Crews from Co 1 and SQ41 found a dryer and contents on fire. The fire was knocked with a dry chem and a can. Units cleared at 1:29pm.

This Sounds Familiar

 

August 11th - Box 44-02A was sounded at 6:06am for a dwelling fire at 3464 Troon Drive. Engines from Station 4, 7, 11, Truck 42 and Squad 15 were due. Sgt 44 arrived on scene of a single story duplex with fire showing. DC47 upgraded the box to a multifamily assignment which brought an extra Truck(53) and Engine Company(15). E43 advanced a line in side A and found heavy fire in the attic. With help from the other companies, the fire was contained to the garage and attic. Command released the last units at 8:43am.

Accident Injures 3

 

August 8th - E43 and SQ41 were alerted for the MVA with fire in the 2300 block of Letterkenny Rd. Units arrived to find 2 autos head on but no fire. Members found 3 patients and requested an additional EMS unit. Crews assisted EMS and cleared the roadway prior to going in service at 6:54pm.

Tractor Trailer vs Auto

 

August 7th - At 1820 hours Station 4 was dispatched to I81 mile marker 18.5 northbound for an SUV head on into a tractor trailer.  SQ41 arrived on the scene and found an SUV and a tractor trailer against the guard rail.  One patient was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  Station 4 cleared the scene at 1843 hours.

 


CVVFA Parade

 

August 5th - Area Fire Departments were showing off their apparatus on Saturday at the 105th Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association Parade. Engine 43 took first place in Engines over 1250 GPM and Truck 42 came in third place in the aerial apparatus division.
