May 2006 Auto Accident
May 31st - After a busy morning The "BIG HOUSE" was dispatched at 1518 hours to 5500 Coffey Ave for an auto accident reported one vehicle into a utility pole with one patient beside the vehicle. E13-1 arrived on the scene and confirmed one vehicle into the pole, everybody was out of the vehicle with no injuries. SQ41arrived and assisted Co. 13 in moving the pole off the roadway. Station 4 cleared at 1533 hours with 6 personnel.
Busy Day Followed By An Even Busier Night
May 31st - A thunderstorm and heavy rain hit the area around 1:30am which kept most fire companies busy running all over the county. The "BIG HOUSE" responded to 7 calls in 73 minutes with 18 members manning 2 Engines, the Truck and the Squad. The first run was at 1:54am to 640 Mickey Inn Rd for a structure fire. E43, E45 and T42 responded and found the call to be good intent. The second run came out at 2:04am for an AFA at 1240 Lacebark Circle. E45 and T42 investigated and found a malfunctioning alarm. The third call sent T42 to 480 Beech Tree St in Shippensburg for a reported house fire at 2:22am. T42 staged while Co 15 investigated. Just after being placed in service, T42 was alerted for a lightning strike at 413 S. Main St in Mont Alto. While enroute, T42 was placed in service at 2:42am. At 2:43am, E43, E45, T42 and SQ41 were punched out for an AFA at 2325 Country Rd. DC17 found maintenance on the scene and held E43 for a minute. While returning to quarters, units were alerted to 181 Franklin Farm Ln for another AFA. E45, E43, T42 and SQ41 responded at 2:52am. Found the alarm tripped and placed all units in service after a quick reset. The seventh and final run for the night was back across town to 1000 Garber Rd. E43, E45, T42 and SQ41 cleared at 3:07am.
May 30th - Crews were kept busy running in the heat this afternoon and in the rain all night. T42, E43 and E45 responded to 536 Briar Ln for a fire reported out. Eng Co 17 found a short circuit and held Co 7, 17 and T42. Station 4 responded with 9 and cleared at 1:17pm. After being placed in service, E45 transferred to Co 17 and was released at 1:20pm. B44 and U44 assisted Co 18 in the 4100 block of Jack Rd with a field fire. Brush units from 18, 8 and Station 4 worked to control the fire. Four members cleared the call at 3:10pm. A reported building fire sent SQ41 to 90 S. Main St. SQ41's crew used a line off E1-2 to extinguish a trash fire in the rear. Firefighters forced entry into a back door and confirmed no extension. Command 1 released units at 8:15pm. Station 4 responded with 5 on the Squad and 4 POV.

May 25th - Station 4 arrived on scene of this MVA to find a 500 gallon oil tank and trailer overturned. As members waited for Dave's Truck Repair to remove the wreckage, the question was asked "How would you crib and lift this if someone was trapped under it?"
First Due Kitchen
May 25th - After 10 days with no major incidents, crews were alerted to 3021 Liverpool Ct for the house fire at 9:38am. E43 arrived with 6 to find a 2 story single family dwelling with smoke showing. Crews found a kitchen off. After a quick knock down, members opened up and found only minor extension. E17-1 and T-1 assisted with salvage and overhaul. One occupant was home at the time of the fire. He awoke to the sound of glass breaking and made his way through the heat and smoke to the stairs then out the front door. C46 released all units at 10:37am. The "BIG HOUSE" responded with E43(6), T42(2) and 3 POV.
Sprinkler System Saves Another One
May 14th - SQ41 responded at 8:49am with Co 1 units to 401 N. Franklin St for an appliance fire in the building. AC1-5 arrived to find a single story juvenile group home with heavy smoke on the first floor. Crews investigated to find a fire in the kitchen. Items placed on top of a toaster oven caught fire then extended up the wall. The "good ole" sprinkler system had the fire out on arrival. The sprinkler head poured throughout the kitchen, dinning area and hallways. The system was shut down and Co 1 began removing the water. With heavy smoke conditions on the first floor and basement, SQ41's crew used PPV from the Squad and Truck. Members sectioned off areas of the building to remove all visible smoke. Station 4 cleared at 9:53am with 5 personnel on the call. Mobile Home Reported w/Entrapment
May 11th - The "BIG HOUSE" was alerted at 4:56pm for a possible mobile home fire at 1464 LWE lot #12. Communications got several calls now reporting a working fire with possible entrapment. E45 found a 14' x 70' mobile home with heavy smoke showing all sides. As members were advancing a line in side A, Command got a report of 2 children unaccounted for. E45, assisted by C17, put a quick knock on the fire and was backed up by Eng Co 17. Both crews performed an aggressive search, which proved negative. All family members were outside and accounted for. EMS transported one civilian. Squad 8 took care of an extensive overhaul. T42 set up ventilation and lighting. E43 hit the fire under the mobile home and assisted with overhaul. Station 4 responded with 16 and left 4 on station. Command cleared the scene at 6:44pm after assisting PSP Fire Marshall with his initial investigation.
