Two Alarm House Fire

 

September 29th - SQ41 responded along with Co 1 to 902 Edgar Ave for the house struck by lightning. Units arrived at 5:04pm to find smoke showing from the attic of a 4000 square foot historic home. SQ41 advanced a line from E1-2, found fire in the finished attic and running the void spaces. Command 1  requested a second alarm for manpower. Crews from several departments worked to get an extensive overhaul completed. Station 4 cleared at 8:29pm.

MVA with Rollover and Fire

 

September 27th - SQ41 and E43 responded to I-81 southbound at MM 14 for the MVA reported to be rolled over with entrapment and fire. Co 8 units responded northbound and confirmed one auto overturned with fire at MM12. Units arrived at 9:55am to find all occupants self extricated from the overturned vehicle. SQ41 assisted Eng Co 17 with extinguishing a small fire in the engine compartment before going in service at 10:08am.

Motorcycle Accident

 

September 25th - Members were busy burning at the training center, when Station 4 was alerted for the motorcycle accident with a possible class 4 pt. SQ41 and MICU 7-8 arrived in the 700 block of Kohler Rd to find one bike into a fence post and a rider with minor injuries. Crews packaged the cyclist then returned to training at 8:52pm.

 

 


Kitchen Fire

 

September 23rd - E43, E45 and SQ41 responded 4th due on the kitchen fire at 4:29pm. Co 7 found a room off and made quick work of it. Command 7 held Co 7, 5, 17, ET1 and T17. Station 4 cleared at  4:51pm.


House Fire

 

September 21st - E1-4, E45 and T42 responded on the 15 Box for a house fire. Units arrived in front of 5395 Greenvillage Road at 5:39pm with heavy fire showing. Station 4 assisted Co 15 and 11 with advancing handlines while the T53 opened up. The well advanced fire got ahead of crews and forced Command to evacuate the building. A defensive operation knocked down the remaining fire. Crews operated until 10:08pm.

Where's My Pants???

 

September 17th - Members arrived early for church services on Sunday when an electric sign caught fire. E45 arrived at 600 Miller St to find the sign at the main entrance on fire. The fire was put out quickly and Station 4 cleared at 5:10am.

 

The evening was busy with a small fire, an accident and a large HazMat. SQ41 responded with Co 1 to 750 Fifth Ave for a building fire. Crews arrived to find the roof of the bar-b-que pit on fire. After a quick knock down and some minor overhaul, units cleared at 8:10pm. SQ41 was immediately alerted for a MVA on I-81 but it turned out to be a duplicate call and all units returned to service.

 

While the Squad was on the fire, E45 was alerted at 7:37pm for a HazMat Incident. Crews arrived at the dead end of Garfield St to find a locomotive on the elevated railroad tracks leaking fuel. About 600 of the 3000 gallons of fuel leaked out before members were able to control it. Units remained on scene awaiting the arrival of railroad officials and clean up crews before clearing at 10:46pm.

 

As firefighters were picking up hose and equipment, someone walked up to E45, opened a compartment door and proceed to steal the drivers turnout pants and boots. A neighbor witnessed the incident and quickly alerted members of the situation. The individual was caught and turned over to the police.

Three Auto Accidents One With Entrapment

 

September 13th - At 1409 hours Station 4 along with units from Co. 8 and 17 were sent to I-81 southbound near mile marker 15 for an auto accident with entrapment. Units arrived on the scene and confirmed the dispatch. Crews "popped" the drivers door and lifted the dash to free the driver of the vehicle. The driver was transported class two to the hospital. Station 4 units returned to service at 1457 hours

 

After returning from the interstate crews were once again alerted for an auto accident, this time it was back to back incidents. The first being dispatched at 1526 hours at 1125 Hamilton Dr. SQ41 arrived on the scene with one tractor trailer blocking the roadway and a utility pole completely sheared off, E45 also responded.  The second was dispatched at 1529 hours which sent E43, and SQ7 to the intersection of Kohler Rd. and Walker Rd. units arrived on the scene with two autos in the intersection and all occupants out of the vehicle.  EMS transported one class three patient to the hospital.  Station 4 units returned to service from both calls at 1609 hours.

Second Fire at Same Address

 

September 7th - For the second time in roughly 10 days, crews responded to 4913 Olde Scotland Rd for a structure fire. Units arrived at 2:10am to find a 40' x 40' shed fully involved. E43 arrived just behind E7-1 and picked up their supply line. E43's crew pulled a line from E7-1 and started hitting the fire along with 7's crew. E45 hit the hydrant again and set up a fill site. Crews from several departments took turns on the lines until the fire was overhauled and extinguished with a little help from a front end loader. Station 4 cleared at 4:39am.

Auto into the House with Entrapment

 

September 4th - SQ41 was special requested by Co 1 at 1:36am to extricate a person trapped under a car inside a house at 428 Black Ave. A mini-van entered the side of an apartment building where one person was sleeping and trapped the resident under the bumper up against the wall. The mini-van took out the exterior stairs and trapped 2 people on the second floor. The driver was able to walk away. Crews forced entry into the adjoining apartment and removed a small section of the wall. After clearing debris from around the victim, EMS was able to safely package the patient. Crews then removed the occupants on the second floor via a roof ladder and window. SQ41 cleared at 2:35am.


Midnight Rollover

 

September 2nd - Fifteen minutes after midnight Station 4 responded to the 800 block of Tallow Hill Rd. SQ41 found one pick up on its roof. EMS treated one patient and AC49 placed units in service.

Busy Start To The Month

 

September 1st - Members got an early start to the month with an early morning barn fire.  At 0044 hours station 4 was dispatched on the second alarm assignment for the barn fire at 90 Mt. Rock Rd. E43 arrived on the scene and was assigned to stage and send manpower to the scene. Units operated on the scene for 10 minutes before being placed in service.  While enroute back to the station E43 was requested to transfer to Co. 15.  E43 covered 15's area for 3 1/2 hours and responded to 1 medical local before returning to service at 0425 hours.

 

At 0943 hours members were sent to 4482 Gary Way for a mobile home fire.  Prior to arrival AC 18-2 arrived on the scene and found a controlled burn and placed units in service at 0951 hours.

 

Station 4 was once again dispatched at 1017 hours to 4450 Sunset Pike for an AFA, units were placed in service by C46 at 1021 hours.

 

Members were given a small break for lunch, before being sent to 248 Sollenberger Rd for an auto accident at 1310 hours. SQ41 and C46 arrived on the scene to find one vehicle off the roadway with one patient confined. SQ41's crew along with assistance from E43's crew removed the drivers side door and removed the patient. While on this incident command 44 was notified of another auto accident in the 5300 block of Greenvillage Road.  AC 49 requested next due Engine and Squad companies be dispatched.  E17-2 and SQ15 were dispatched. Station 4 units cleared the Sollenberger Rd incident at 1334 hours.

 

Members received another break before being special requested by E1-4 at 1626 hours for lift assistance at 294 LWE. UT44 cleared the scene at 1641 hours.
