Dump Truck Overturned

 

April 28th - Co 18 responded to this MVA reported with confinement in the 7700 block of LWW. E18-2 arrived at 1:40pm to find a small dump truck on its side with a pole and wires down. SQ41 was requested to assist with the MVA. The driver was self extricated but a gas leak with wires burning in the tree above keep members alert. LWW was shut down for several hours while the power company restored service to the area.


Building Fire

 

April 27th - Units were alerted on the 11-13 box at 2:07am for a building fire at 1050 Superior Ave. E13-2 found a working fire upon arrival. E45 assisted E13-2 while T42 took roof operations. T42 set up a flying standpipe then disassembled duct work and hoppers to check for extension. Found extension contained inside the duct work. Command 11 released all units at 3:31am.

SU44 O.O.S.

 

April 26th - SU44 is O.O.S. for a short term to get some minor repairs done.  Hopefully it will be back in service in the beginning of the week.

Double Fly Out
 

April 22nd - A car traveling the wrong way on I-81 collided head-on with another vehicle at 6:55am. The mistaken driver entered I-81 at exit 14 and traveled south bound in the north bound lane. Units from Sta4 and Co 8 found two class 1 patients. Command requested air medical for both drivers. Crews assisted EMS from Co 8, 1 and 100 with packaging pts then set up the LZ for Stat 12 and Life Lion. I-81 was shut down for 1 hour before units went in service at 7:52am.

 

  

  


Another Cut Job On LWE at I-81
 

April 20th - Members extricated one person from this MVA on LWE at the on ramp to I-81. This intersection has been the scene of multiple pin jobs including one fatality. The 8:19pm accident involved a pick up and a mini-van. One person was trapped in the passengers seat of the van. Crews were able to remove the patient within 5 minutes.

 

  


Multiple Autos on Fire
 

April 13th - At 1624 hours on Friday the 13th communications sounded local alarm 44-04 to 2956 Lincoln Way West, for 4 autos on fire. Enroute communications advised workers were cutting apart a car and accidentally set it on fire.  Due to windy conditions and the remote location the fire quickly spread.  AC48 requested ET14, ET8, an Engine from Co. 18 and 13, and an EMS unit. E45 arrived on the scene of a junk yard with 8 working auto fires. E45 quickly put a line in service and contained it to just the 8 autos. Crews from Co. 13, 14, and 18 assisted with overhaul. Units went available at 1735 hours.


Auto Fire
 

April 10th - E45, and SQ41 responded at 2:09pm for an auto fire at 884 Falling Spring Rd. E45 arrived on the scene with a working fire. Crews pulled a 1 1/2 line and made a quick knock on the fire. Units returned to service at 2:47pm.

Basement Fire
 

April 9th - Station 4 units were alerted to 8980 Mt. Olivet Rd. for a reported basement fire. AC48 arrived on the scene with nothing showing Lt. 44 advised of a small fire in the walls behind the wood stove in the basement. E45 arrived on the scene and was sent to the attic to check for extension. A line was pulled from E18-1 to extinguish the fire. Units went available at 10:16pm


Mobile Home Fire
 

April 9th - E45 responded to 640 Mickey Inn Rd. Lot 23 for a mobile home fire. A Greene Township unit arrived on the scene and advised the fire was out and minimal overhaul was needed.  AC49 held the box to E45. Crews removed the skirting from the front of the mobile home to check for extension but none was found. E45 returned available at 12:07pm

 


House Fire
 

April 8th - E45 and E43 responded 3840 Main St. Scotland for a reported house fire.  E45 arrived on the scene and was instructed to back up and lay from a hydrant at the intersection of Scotland Rd. and Main St. Scotland. Members advanced a line off of ET-14 to extinguish the fire. Had fire in the walls in the first and second floor. Station 4 units returned to service around 1:30am

Haz-Mat and 2 House Fires
 

April 5th - E45 and SQ41 responded at 1:09pm to the 1200 block of Lincoln Way West for an auto accident reported with a tractor trailer.  Units arrived to find a fuel truck hauling 2800 gallons of diesel fuel and kerosene had overturned and was leaking. SQ41 contained the leak and returned to service at 3:50pm.

 

After returning from the Haz-Mat, SQ41 responded at 4:30pm on the 11-02 box for a dwelling fire at 15123 Rosenberry Rd. Co 11 units arrived on the scene with smoke showing from all four sides. SQ41 arrived on  scene and split a crew of seven, one crew was sent inside to open up the walls and ceiling in the back bedroom and the other was sent to the roof to open up. SQ41 was placed in service at 5:53pm.

 

The day ended with T42 responding to Waynesboro at 11pm for multiple dwellings on fire. Co 2 had a house well off with extension into 2 exposures. T42 threw some ladders and started roof ops on the fire building but were pulled off due to possible collapse. Members then assisted with overhaul in the B1 exposure before clearing at 1:46am.

Top Floor Please
 

April 3 - E45, T42 and E43 responded on the 18-4 Box for the barn fire. Units arrived at 5245 Snider Rd with fire showing from an 80' silo. Crews found fire running the doors from bottom to top. T42 operated a line off a "flying standpipe" to knock down the fire inside. Co 18 stopped the fire from extending into a nearby exposure and units were able to clear at 3am.


Special Unit 44
 

April 2 - Special Unit 44 officially went in service at 8:15pm Monday after drill. Here is a brief description:

 

2007 Ford F550 with a poly body

300 gal. tank

200 GPM pump

200' of 1" booster line

200' of 1.5" preconnect

200' of 3" supply line
