House Fire
 

Feb 27th - Co 9 made quick work of this house fire at 30 W. Seminary St. E45 responded at 2:42pm and assisted with overhaul on the rear porch.

Auto Accident
 

Feb 23rd - E45 and SQ41 responded at 2053 hours to 627 Siloam Rd for an auto accident. SQ41 arrived on the scene to find two vehicles head on blocking the westbound lane. Three patients were transported to the hospital. Station 4 units returned to service 2149 hours.

 


Shed Fire
 

Feb 22nd - E45 and E43 responded to 1665 New Franklin Rd for the reported barn fire. Co 17 arrived at 7:45pm with working fire in a lumber storage building. E17-1 put a quick knock on it. E45 assisted Co 17 and 8 with overhaul and mop up.

 

 

 

Dec 21, 2006 - Had a working fire at this address.


Anybody Home?
 

Feb 19th - Station 4 was dispatched at 1427hours to the intersection of Edenville Rd and Lawyer Rd for an auto accident reported vehicle into a house.  C46 arrived on the scene at 2179 Edenville Rd and confirmed the dispatch with one patient still inside the vehicle.  SQ41 arrived on the scene and popped the drivers door to access the patient.  SQ41 remained on the scene while the homeowner (who was not home at the time of the accident) removed items from the house.  Station 4 returned to service at 1604hours.


Four Injured
 

Feb 16th - SQ41 and E45 handled this MVA along with ambulances from Co 1 and Co 8. Units arrived at 12:40pm in front of 2406 MPHS to find two vans involved. Crews worked with EMS to package a total of 4 patients.


HazMat Day
 

Feb 15th - Crews got to use all their HazMat skills during two incidents on Thursday. SQ41 and E43 responded on I-81 south bound just north of exit 16 for a fuel leak. Units arrived at 11:37am to find the fuel tank of a tractor trailer ruptured sending approximately 75 gallons of diesel fuel across both lanes of I-81. E17-1, SQ41, SQ8 and E43 shut down the interstate and worked to control the run off. Members remained on scene for 2 hours before clearing. The second HazMat run was just a few minutes later at 120 S. Third St. Co 1 units were on scene of a CO incident with 5 patients. SQ41 was special requested for manpower at 1:57pm. Crews found 3 unresponsive and 2 semi-responsive patients. Several landing zones were set up to handle all 5 patients being transported by helicopter to hyperbaric chambers. SQ41 remained on scene for about an hour assisting with monitoring and ventilation.

Snow Storm Brings Busy Morning
 

 

Feb 14th - Members started Valentine's Day at 0501hours with an auto accident on I-81 Southbound at mile marker 14. 

 

 

While SQ41 was responding to the interstate, communications sounded box 7-01 for the building fire at 2091 Edgewood Rd. 

 

 

DC47 arrived on the interstate call and advised of 3 tractor trailers stuck on the mile marker 14 entrance ramp and no fire department services needed. Command 8 quickly placed the Interstate call in service and SQ41 responded on the building fire at 0516hours.

 

 

Units arrived on Edgewood Rd. with smoke showing. Crews found one of the greenhouses to have collapsed under the weight of snow and ice and a small fire ignited in the center of the greenhouse. Crews put a quick knock on the fire and returned to service at 0602hours. E45 responded on the fire but ended up transferring to Co. 17. 

 

 

Members received a short break before being dispatched at 0745hours to the 1100 block of Leisure Dr. (Woodburn Estates) for a vehicle fire. E45 arrived on the scene to find a working fire in the engine compartment. E45's crew contained the fire to the engine compartment and returned available at 0828hours.

 

 

Members responded on E1-4 to 1070 LWE for the auto fire. E1-1 also responded on the local alarm. Crews from both units made quick work of the fire and returned to service at 11:08am.

Chimney Fire
 

Feb 12th - As members were finishing drill, communications alerted Box 4403 for a chimney fire at 1970 Blakewood Dr.  Station 4 units arrived on the scene to find a hot spot behind the fireplace. Crews checked the residence for extension, with nothing found. Crews then went to work on removing blocks from the rear of the fire place in order to access a void space. Once access was made crews removed hot ashes. Crews once again checked for extension, with none found. Units cleared at 2136

 


Need A Tow
 

Feb 11th - Station 4 units were alerted at 1635 on Box 17-2 for an auto accident in the 4200 block of Wayne Rd.  Units arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved. One vehicle was a pick-up truck towing two vehicles that came to rest in a driveway just feet from a residence. The other vehicle was a passenger car located in the center on the roadway.  Squad 41's crew assisted Co17 and EMS with patient loading . Units went available at 1657.
 


Busy Friday
 

Feb 9th - Station 4 was awakened early Friday morning at 03:18am to 3350 Carnoustie Drive for an inside investigation. Units arrived on the scene and after investigating found the problem located in the furnace. Units cleared at 04:21am. This would be the first of seven calls for the day.

Police Department Operations and a Box Alarm

 

Feb 8th - After returning from the auto accident at N. Franklin and Rife St. members were greeted by the Chambersburg Police Department.  Apparently an individual across from the firehouse was in mental distress which required the Chambersburg Police SET team to conduct operations at the firehouse. During the incident King St was shut down to all traffic which sent E43 to Co. 1 headquarters station in the event an engine call was received.  T42 and SQ41 were placed back to back facing the rear bay door.  At 1939 hours with the Police Department in position, SQ41 was dispatched to 368 Mountain Rd in Peters Township for an inside investigation of smoke.  SQ41 snuck out the rear of the station and responded but was placed in service prior to arriving on the scene. As SQ41 was backing into the station, Chambersburg Police Officers advised members that the situation across the street had been defused and "The Big House" could return to normal operations. E43 returned home and the Truck and Squad were returned to their respective bays.


Auto Accident With Confinement

 

Feb 8th - Station 4 units were dispatched at 1748 hours for the auto accident at N. Franklin and Rife St.  SQ41 arrived on the scene with a log truck into a passenger vehicle.  The passenger vehicle was found on Rife St with one patient confined in the drivers seat.  SQ41's crew quickly went to work and "popped" the drivers door then turned the patient over to EMS. Station 4 crews returned to service at 1809 hours.


Cold Weather Brings Runs

 

Feb 6th - Members from all over Franklin County were running from box alarm to box alarm in the extremely cold temperatures this morning. Station 4 dumped house while responding to 3 boxes between 9am and 11am.

 

6:04am--SQ41 and E45 for the MVA with rollover in the 2300 block of Sollenberger Rd. Sta4 had one auto and one injury.

 

9:17am--SQ41, T42 and E45 for the silo fire at 6002 Lemar Rd. Co 9 had a fire in a machine room attached to the silo. SQ41 assisted with overhaul.

 

9:53am--E45 transfer to Co 9.

 

10:03am--E7-2(tranferred to Sta4) and E43 for the house at 2856 Still House Hollow Rd. Co 7 had a heater on fire inside the home and held it with Co 7 and 15.

 

10:36am--E43, T42 and SQ41 for the mobile home at 640 Mickey Inn Rd. Sta4 had a dryer fire and held it with E43 and E7-1.


MVA

 

Feb 5th - One person was injured in this MVA at the intersection of Kriner Rd and MPHS. SQ41 and E45 found a mini van and SUV head on. Crews assisted EMS and handled vehicle hazards then cleared at 3:16pm.


MVA

 

Feb 1st - The 900 block of LWW was the scene of this MVA on Thursday night. SQ41 and E45 arrived at 8:04pm to find an SUV vs pick up truck with one patient laying in the parking lot. Command 44 requested additional EMS units for a total of 4 BLS and 2 ALS. Members started treating patients until the arrival of EMS. Station 4 cleared at 8:37pm.
