- Story from Public Opinion
N.J.
man dies in 2-vehicle accident on I-81
A two-vehicle
accident early Wednesday on
Interstate 81 that killed a
Phillipsburg, N.J. man has been
ruled a suicide by Franklin County
Coroner Jeffrey Conner. According to Trooper Craig Finkle of the
Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg, Joshua E. Dawson, 33, was
traveling south in a 2002 Kia station wagon at 12:45 p.m. Police said that Dawson's vehicle traveled off of
the road and struck a 1997 Kenworth tractor trailer that was parked on
the berm near the weigh station. Conner said Dawson had been threatening to take
his own life hours before the accident occurred in a different area and
didn't have any reason to be in the area when the accident occurred. Dawson died of multiple blunt force trauma, Conner
said. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt. The driver of the truck, who was not named by
