Feb 29th - Members extricated 1person from a MVA at Sheller Ave and Wayne Ave just after 3:30pm. Co 1 and SQ41 arrived to find 2 vehicles in the intersection. Had an SUV on its side with the driver hanging 3 feet off the ground. Crews broke out the rear window and put EMS inside with the patient. After cribbing the vehicle, a roof lay down was performed and the patient was removed. Total time from on scene to patient on stretcher was 13 minutes.


Stop Here On Red

 

Feb 28th - This accident occurred at the intersection of S. Franklin St and Loudon St around 1:30pm. Initial reports had one person unconscious. E1-2 and SQ41 arrived to find a minivan and passenger car blocking the intersection. Crews assisted EMS with removing 2 patients.

 


MVA

 

Feb 25th - SQ41 and E45 arrived at 1:17pm in the 2900 block of Philadelphia Ave to find 2 trucks and a mini-van involved in rear end collisions. One person was injured in this 3 car accident.


MVA w/Rollover

 

Feb 21st - SQ41 responded to 577 Siloam Rd for the MVA around 7:45am. Units arrived to find an SUV that went up an embankment rolled over and landed back on its wheels in the middle of the road. Crews found one class 2 patient and requested ALS. Siloam Rd was shut down for about an hour.


One Down On LWW

 

Feb 18th - Members responded to three more runs in the afternoon including this motorcycle accident in front of 816 LWW. SQ41 and E45 arrived at 2:32pm to find 1 rider laying on the berm. After assisting EMS and clearing the roadway, units returned to service.

 

Box Alarm and MVA

 

Feb 18th - Crews stayed busy overnight with a reported building fire at 2:34am, an AFA at 4:28am and a MVA at 6:13am. The box alarm sent T42, E45 and E43 to 2168 Mont Alto Rd for a reported fire at an old elementary school. T42 laddered side B and checked the roof. Interior crews found a burnt motor in the duct work and Command 7 reduced the assignment. Units were quarters for roughly 30 minutes before E45 heading back out for an AFA at 1436 LWE. After another short break, SQ41 and E45 responded to 95 Kriner Rd for a MVA. Units arrived to find a full size van with front end damage and an SUV in the ditch with heavy damage to the drivers side. Command 44 requested 2 more BLS units and 1 ALS unit to transport 4 patients. Members assisted EMS with loading the patients before returning to service.

 


Try Before You Pry

 

Feb 16th - SQ41 and E45 responded to 2342 Philadelphia Ave at 4:08pm for a MVA reported with entrapment. Upon arrival crews found 1 vehicle on top of a snow bank. Members were able to remove the compacted snow away from the door and the pt was turned over to EMS.

 

  


Dryer Fire?!?!

 

Feb 13th - Just before midnight, SQ41 responded into Co 1's first due for a dryer fire at 550 Philadelphia Ave. Members arrived to find a two story multi-family structure with fire showing from several windows on side B and C. With no easy access from side A, SQ41 advanced a line from E1-2 to side C. After an aggressive knockdown, crews searched and started opening up. The fire involved an enclosed porch, kitchen and hallway. Units remained on scene until 1:35am.


Snow Covered Roads vs Local Drivers

 

Feb 12th - Drivers struggled early as snow blanketed the region. SQ41 and E45 had these 3 runs between 12:45pm and 1:45pm.

Fire at Vision Quest

 

Feb 9th - Just after midnight, units were dispatched for a building fire at a youth correctional facility. SQ41 was alerted on the WFD when first arriving units found fire showing. Members assisted with overhaul in the fire room. Command 16 released all units at 1:45am.

 

  


Another Auto On Its Side

 

Feb 8th - For the second night in a row, members were called out to free a person confined in their vehicle. SQ41 and E45 arrived in the 100 block of Warmspring Rd just before 1am and confirmed a minivan on its side with 1 patient inside. Crews stabilized the vehicle and accessed the patient by break out the rear window then cut away the windshield to remove them. The patient was turned over to EMS and Sta4 returned to service around 1:30am.

 

  


Auto On Its Side

 

Feb 6th - SQ41 and E45 responded to the 1600 block of LWW for a MVA with entrapment. Units arrived at 8pm to find 1 auto on its side with power lines down and 1 person confined in the vehicle. After cribbing the auto, crews removed the back window to gain access. The combative patient was brought out and turned over to EMS. Sta4 cleared at 8:30pm.


Barn and Chimney Fires

 

Feb 5th - At 9:54am, Co 1 members spotted fire coming from a chimney at 34 W. Washington St. The box was filled sending Co 1 and SQ41 to the scene. SQ41 operated in the basement and on the roof. No extension was found. SQ41 returned to service around 10:30am. E45 and SQ41 responded to 5488 Horst Rd for a barn fire at 5pm. Units arrived to find smoke showing. Co 8 and 17 put a quick knock on it. SQ41 assisted with the interior while E45's crew was assigned RIT. E45 set up a fill site in Marion. Command 8 held 8, 17 and Sta4. Members returned to service by 6pm

MVA w/Entrapment and Double Fly Out

 

Feb 3rd - Members extricated 1 person from this MVA at the intersection of Mill Rd and S. Main St at 3:30pm. Units arrived to find two cars head on with heavy damage to both cars. SQ41 broke out the rear window to gain patient access and started a full roof removal but was able to free the pt by removing the drivers door and lifting the dash. Stat 12 and 13 air lifted 2 patients from the scene. Command 1 released SQ41 at 4:17pm.
