July 31st -
Units arrived in front of 3493 Sycamore
Grove Rd to find this auto on its roof. Members assisted EMS.
SQ41 and E43 returned to service at 3:18pm. SQ41 was right back
out the door at 3:57pm and again at 4:53pm for a box alarm and a
cardiac arrest. |

MVA |

July 26th - SQ41 and E43 responded to this MVA in the
1200 block of LWE. Members found a ruptured gas tank and two
injuries. Crews controlled the gasoline spill then returned to
service at 8:41am. |

Another
Grant
July 26th -
Crews returned from two fires over night
and opened the paper to find out that Station 4 has been awarded
another FEMA grant. This time the money will be used to put
Chevron striping on all the apparatus.

Back To Back Burners
July 26th - Units were alerted on the 7-3 box at 1:13am
for a house fire address unknown. Co 7 found an abandond house
well off at 4026 White Church Rd. SQ41 and E43 sent members to
the scene along with Company 7, 8, 17, 52 and 53. Crews worked
together to bring the blaze under control and remained on scene
until 4:15am overhauling the structure. Once under control
Command 7 released E43. Shortly after returning to quarters,
Communications dispatched Co 1, E43 and T17 for the auto fire
next to the building at 240 Burkhart Ave. At 3:55am, AC1-5
reported an auto fully involved two feet from the home. E43
quickly put a line on it. The home and neighboring autos
received only minor heat damage. Members returned from the
second box at 4:43am. |

Auto Into The House |
|
July 25th - SQ41 responded along with Co 18 for the MVA
at 2:20am. Co 18 arrived at 3820 LWW with a minivan into the
side of a single family home. Members assisted with shoring up
the home and removing the vehicle. SQ41 returned to service at
3:30am. |

Lightning Strike
July 23rd -
Lightning struck a house at 812 Burdock Ct
sparking a fire in the wall and floor. E43 and T42 arrived on
2:50am to find a hole in the siding and smoke in the basement.
Members tracked down the fire and contained it to small area. |

Three Injured In MVA |
|
July 22nd -
AC48 came upon this MVA on Walker Rd at I-81
around 2pm and quickly requested Fire and EMS. SQ41 and E43
arrived to find two pick ups involved. The impact was hard
enough to flip one truck completely over the guardrail, landing
it just inches away from rolling down a 25 foot embankment and
onto I-81. Members assisted EMS with moving patients up the
embankment and over the guardrail. Two ambulances from Co 7, one
from Co 1 and ALS from Co 100 transported the patients. |

Apartment Off In Waynesboro |
|
July 21st - Truck 42 responded into the Borough Of
Waynesboro to assist with an apartment fire. Co 2 units arrived
shortly before 3pm to find a fire in the rear of 82 West Main
St. Truck 42's "Auxiliary Driver" threw ladders on side A while
the crew checked exposure D1 then relieved crews on Division 2
and opened up. |

July 18th -
Members watch as four people are
handcuffed in the station parking lot during a "disagreement". |

MVA
July 18th -
The 600 block of South Second St was the
scene of this 4pm accident. The SUV drove up an embankment
through a few yards then launched off a retaining wall across
the street head on into a utility pole. SQ41 assisted Co 1 units
with the class 1 trauma patient and washing down "fluids". |

They Come In Three's |

July 15th -
Station 4 responded to a third fire in just two days. This time
it was Co 8's first due. Shortly after 5pm, E43 and T42 were
alerted for the building fire with an explosion at 5773 Colorado
St. First arriving units from 8 and 17 reported smoke coming
from the roof. Crews found fire in a second floor machine room
and hopper. E43 picked up 17's line and T42 staged. Both units
sent manpower to the scene to assist with opening up and
accessing remaining hot spots. |

Second Fire Of The Day
July 14th -
T42 responded around 3:30pm on the 9-02
box for a shed fire that extended into a mobile home. Co 9
arrived at 11915 Punch Bowl Rd to find heavy fire showing in
both the shed and home. T42 assisted crews with hooking walls
and removing debris. Command 9 released T42 at 5pm. |

Finally
July 14th - After getting some calls on the 13th, the
runs continued after midnight. E43, T42, E45 and UT44 responded
on the remote 18-13 box for the house fire. E18-1 arrived at
2328 Community Center Drive around 1am with heavy fire showing
from a single story dwelling. Crews put a quick knock on it
saving most of the home. E43 supplied E18-1 and assisted with
interior operations. T42 set up on side A and opened the roof.
E45 and UT44 sent manpower to the scene for overhaul. E45 was
released about 3am and just backed into the firehouse when
Station 4 was alerted for the MVA on I-81 near mm14. SQ41
arrived at 3:17am, confirmed one auto off the highway, one
patient with minor injuries and went in service. E43 and
T42 cleared the house fire at 3:45am. |

Auto Hit By
Lightning
July 13th - After
10 days of AFA's and Box Alarms that were nothing, members
caught 5 runs including a strange auto fire. Station 4
responded at 3:09pm to the 3400 block of Letterkenny Rd for a
MVA. SQ41 and E43 found 1 SUV lost control in the heavy rain,
slammed into an embankment injuring two people. At 3:31pm, SQ41
and E43 were alerted for the auto fire. Units arrived on I-81 at
exit 17 to find a passenger car struck by lightning while
traveling at 70mph. The lightning hit the antenna, melting it
then ignited the electrical wiring in the engine compartment.
Crews used a dry chem to extinguish the fire then went in
service. SQ41 responded to assist EMS with lifting at 3:51pm.
E43 and T42 handled a food on the stove run at 1500 Northfield
Dr around 5:30pm. A reported apartment fire sent E43, T42 and
E45 to 2488 Falling Spring Rd at 6:30pm. Members arrived to find
a small fire in the kitchen with a burn victim. Command 17 held
it with Co 17 and EMS. |

NOTE: The battery of this Chrysler was
located in the trunk under the floor next to the spare tire. |
