Tour of Pennsylvania bike race to roll through Memorial Square in Chambersburg

Portions of U.S. 30 between Chambersburg and Bedford will be closed Thursday, accompanied by delays along U.S. 11 north of Chambersburg.

Nearly 150 cyclists from all over the world will be riding from Carlisle to Bedford for the Tour of Pennsylvania bicycle race Thursday, moving south along U.S. 11 until they reach Chambersburg, and west along U.S. 30, over the mountains and through McConnellsburg. This is a "Tour de France" style bicycle race.

Pennsylvania State Police will run "rolling road blocks," lasting about five minutes, through all intersections on the cyclists' route. Traffic coming toward the cyclists along U.S. 30 will be shut down in segments until the last cyclist passes the stopped traffic.

MVA

June 25th -
A two car accident just before 8am sent one person to the hospital. SQ41 and Co 17 responded to Cider Press and Falling Spring Roads and found an SUV vs a passenger car. Crews assisted EMS with loading one patient and controlled fluid leaks.

Water Rescues
June 24th - SQ41 and EMS responded for the reported drowning at 7:10pm.

Chambersburg girl, 3, drowns in family pool


A 3-year-old girl was pronounced dead at Chambersburg Hospital after she drowned in the swimming pool of a Hamilton Township home Tuesday night.

June 22nd - Around 2am Sunday morning, SQ41 and Co 1 responded to 108 LWW for a man who either fell or jumped from the bridge. Crews found the man laying partially in the water. After packaging him members used the stokes and a rope system to bring him up the embankment.

RV Well Off
June 20th - Co 7 found this RV fully involved in front of 1410 Doron Drive. SQ41 arrived and assisted Co 7 with extinguishing what was left of the RV. Crews found power lines down next to the RV and had to operate from a distance while awaiting the power company. Approximately 70 gallons of gasoline fueled the fire.

Two Days Two Garage Fires

June 19th -
SQ41 responded on the 9-56 Box just after 11pm for the garage fire. Co 9 arrived at 14285 Buchanan Trail West with fire showing from an attached garage. Units put a quick knock on it saving the house. SQ41 assisted with overhaul in the garage and house. E43 covered Co 9's quarters and both units returned to service shortly after 1am..

Garage Fire
June 18th - A garage fire next to 894 LWW was just one of six runs on Wednesday. E43 and T42 arrived at 8:05am to find thick black smoke pouring out of a 12' x 25' garage. Members made an aggressive attack and found the unit well off with an exposure just a few feet away. The garage contained numerous tires and flammable liquids. Crews brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Sta4 was assisted on the scene by Co 8 and 18.

MVA w/Entrapment

June 12th -
While SQ41 and T42 were responding to 138 Mont Alto Rd for an electrical fire in the dwelling, members heard Communications put out a MVA with entrapment in Co 17's area. SQ41 arrived on the 7-7 box and assisted with opening the wall to check for extension. The fire was contained to the receptacle and an alert Command 7 released SQ41 at 10:03am to assist on the MVA. SQ41 arrived on the crash at 10:10am. Co 17 had a pick up vs an SUV with 2 trapped at Cider Press and Garber. E17-1 and SQ41 removed 4 doors and a B post to extricate the occupants of the SUV. Stat 12 air lifted one patient and EMS transported 2 others. Units returned to service at 10:35am.

Second Multiple Alarm Fire Of The Day

June 9th -
Firefighters from all over Franklin County and as far away as Carlisle and  Funkstown, Md battled a blazing house fire in 98* wheather. Co 1, SQ41 and T17 were dispatched for the apartment fire at 2:47pm. Units arrived to find heavy fire coming from 690 Broad St and already extending into 682 and 704 Broad St. Crews advanced a line to side D and knocked down the bulk of the fire at 682 then entered 690 to find several rooms off. As the line was hitting the fire on the first floor, members began stretching additional lines to the second floor. An hour into the incident there was still fire showing from the attic. Crews found extreme temps both inside and outside the fire forcing Command 1 to request a total of 4 alarms. Companies rotated through the building and rehab. Two firefighters were transported to the hospital and several others were treated on the scene. SQ41 and T42 cleared the scene at 7:24pm.
   
   
No Tell Motel

June 9th -
After responding to 5 runs in temps near 100* on Sunday, a good night's sleep was cut short by a 2 Alarm Motel Fire at 1095 Wayne Ave. Just after 3:30am, SQ41 and Co1 units arrived to find fire showing from the roof of the two story Quality Inn. Members rushed to evacuate the building as a line was stretched to the roof via ground ladders. Crews found fire on the roof, inside the overhang and running a pipe chase. T42 responded when the second alarm was sounded as smoke filled the first floor hallway causing more guest to be removed. Members forced entry into the rooms below the fire and confirmed the fire was contained to the roof area. Units cleared the scene at 5:35am.

MVA and Auto Fire
June 7th - SQ41 assisted Co 1 units on this MVA in front of 700 Loudon St. at 1am. Crews found an auto vs a utility pole. The pole was sheared off at the base and came to rest inside the car via the sunroof. One person was transported. SQ41 remained on scene until 2:52am. E43 handled an auto fire at 1101 LWW around 2pm. Members arrived to find fire in the engine compartment and put a quick knock on it.

Two More MVA's

June 4th -
SQ41 and SU44 responded for a MVA reported with confinement in the intersection of MPHS, Kriner Rd and Loop Rd around 3:15pm. Units found 3 vehicles involved. The patient was removed out the drivers side without further damage to the vehicle. EMS transported 2. After a 6:15pm AFA, a second MVA was dispatched at 7pm. SQ41 and E43 arrived at 3433 LWW with 3 vehicles in the parking lot. Members assessed damaged done to the building then returned to service. A wires down call at 7:30 in the morning was the only other run for the day.

June 3rd -
After an AFA in the morning, it was back to running in the evening. SQ41 and E43 responded to the intersection of Letterkenny Rd and Siloam Rd for the MVA. Units arrived at 6:40pm to find two vehicles with three injured. A report of an apartment fire sent SQ41 and Co 1 to 72 LWW at 7:46pm. Members found a BBQ on the porch. Three minutes after the Box was dispatched, E43 and T42 handled another AFA at 2047 Loop Rd.

Incident Filled Afternoon
June 2nd - Station 4's tones dropped 7 times in the afternoon and evening hours. The usual AFA at 2075 Scotland Rd started it off for E43 and T42 at 1:45pm. E43 had an assist the citizen at 2:23pm. SQ41 was up next with a MVA in the intersection of Edenville Rd, Criders Church Rd and Loudon Rd at 3:28pm. Originally dispatched as a 44-04 box, it was changed to a 18-13 box. SQ41 was placed in service by Co 18 until Capt 44 went on the scene with confinement. SQ41 again responded to the scene, assisted Co 18 with popping a door and patient removal. At 4:51pm, SQ41 responded to 1425 Philadelphia Ave for the person stuck in an elevator. Another MVA at Clearfield Rd and MPHS, sent SQ41 headed north at 5:30pm. Units got a break before a third MVA at 9:27pm. SQ41 and E43 found a vehicle leaking gas at 3700 Scotland Rd. T42 ended the night at 10:13pm with an appliance fire at 115 Brown Rd.
