MVA With Fly Out |
|
May 27th -
E43 and T42 responded for smoke in the day care center at 1800
Philadelphia Ave. Units arrived at 10:47am to find food on the
stove with a smoke condition. Crews vented the building then
took time to give a little show for the kids. After a 2pm AFA
for T42, crews responded to 2 MVA's on I-81. The first was at
mm11 south bound around 5:30pm. SQ41 found 1 auto on its side.
The patient was turned over to EMS. Sta4 and Co 8 went in
service. The second was in the area of mm13 north bound. Co 8
and Sta4 had a pick up vs a passenger car with a class 1
patient. SQ41 assisted Co 8 with removing the patient while E43
stood by for the landing zone. DC8 placed Sta4 in service at
8pm. |

Rough Morning
May 24th - SQ41 and
E43 arrived on the scene this MVA in the 4400 block of Sycamore
Grove Rd around 6am. The auto traveled through a field, hit a
large stone and flipped a few times before coming to rest on its
side. The driver was self extricated and turned over to EMS. |

Fence Rider
May 23rd - A
12:20pm accident sent one person to the hospital when the car
they were driving left the roadway and hit a fence. SQ41 and E43
responded along with EMS from Co 8. |

MVA
May 22nd - One
person was injured in this accident in the 900 block of
Warmspring Rd. SQ41 and E43 found 4 vehicles involved. Units
were in service at 6:10pm. |

A Few More For The
20th
May 20th - The
evening brought three more runs for Station 4. Transfers to Co
13 at 6:15pm and Co 18 at 11:15pm were the only runs for the
engine company but the squad caught another box alarm. Co 1 and
SQ41 arrived at 888 Broad St with smoke showing from a two story
duplex. Crews found a mattress fire in a rear bedroom on the
first floor. The fire was contained to a small area and units
were in service by 10:15pm. |

Wear Your Gloves
May 20th - SQ41
responded to this MVA in the 800 block of Boyer Mill Rd around
7:30am. Crews found a well balanced pick up but no injuries.
Members got a phone call at the station reporting a smoking
electrical box at 949 Norland Ave. At 9:42am, SQ41 responded and
notified communications to dispatch the box. An under ground
electrical vault was found smoking upon arrival. The vault was
opened and confirmed an electrical fire. Power was cut to the
vault and SQ41 returned to service at 10:41am. |

Box Alarm |
|
May 16th - Units from
Station 4 and Co 13 were alerted for a vehicle fire at 1:19am.
E13-2 arrived to find a semi-trailer next to the building on
fire with a smoke condition inside. Command 44 upgraded the box
bringing T42, Co 11 and SQ15. Crews from all companies off
loaded the large rolls of burning paper. E43 and T42 remained on
scene for 2 hours. |

Rollover
May 14th - Two
children and one adult escaped injury when their truck flipped
over and landed on its side in the area of Scotland Rd and
Sycamore Grove Rd around 11:30pm. SQ41 and E43 responded along
with EMS. |

Congratulations
May 9th - Another
member graduates from the DC Fire Academy. FF Rodney Grenke was
the Class Leader for Recruit Class 355 and is headed to Truck 13
#1. |


Again ?!?!
May 6th - The
guardrail on LWE at the north bound on ramp to I-81 was the
scene of yet another accident. Members have extricated several
people at this intersection. Crews have seen a few cars go up
and over it and even had to cut thru the guardrail once. At 8am
this morning, SQ41 and E43 arrived to find two more vehicles
into that guardrail. This time one was on its roof with the
support post smashed up thru the windows. Members assisted EMS
with packaging 2 patients. After controlling the vehicle hazards
units returned to service. |

| May 4th - The second time
in just a few days, a person was injured while standing beside
their parked car. This time the victim was unloading items from
an SUV when it was struck by a minivan and pushed into another
parked car. CO 1 and SQ41 arrived in front of 464 E. Queen St at
9am to find one person laying on the curb. Members assisted EMS
with loading the patient then controlled vehicle hazards. The
day wouldn't be complete without 3 AFA's in the evening hours. |

Three Car MVA
May 3rd - This
accident in the 800 block of LWW sent 1 person to the hospital
and injured 3 others. SQ41 and E43 arrived just after noon to
find 3 vehicles involved. Crews assisted EMS then returned to
service. |

| Cardiac Arrest, Brush, MVA and House
Fire |
| May 2nd - SQ41 caught 4
runs on Friday, starting with a cardiac arrest on Mickey Inn Rd
around 3:30pm. Then E43 and SQ41 responded to 906 Strock Dr for
wires down at 4:03pm. Units found a brush fire next to the
downed power line. A short time later, Station 4 was alerted for
the MVA with an unconscious person. Crews arrived at 5:27pm to
find a passenger car head on into a tree with two injuries.
Command 44 requested an additional BLS and ALS unit. After
assisting EMS with removing both patients, SQ41 and E43 returned
to service at 6pm. A 911 call reporting smoke coming from the
roof of 706 S. Second St sent Co 1 and SQ41 on the box. Members
arrived at 10:15pm with smoke showing from a two story single
family. Crews found fire in the attic floor and began to open
up. The fire was contained to a small area and SQ41 returned to
service in about an hour. |

Two Pinned Under Cars
May 1st -
Two people were stopped along I-81 changing a flat tire when they
were struck by another vehicle. Station 4 and Co 7 units responded
to the 5:21pm accident. Crews arrived in the area of mile marker 18
and found two people trapped under separate vehicles. One was
declared dead at the scene but rescuers were able to extricate the
second person in time. Command 7 had Air Medical land in the south
bound lane. SQ41 cleared at 6:33pm.
