Structure Fire
Nov 30th - SQ41
responded on the 9-18 Box for the reported structure fire at
2:21am. First arriving units found a 25' x 50' garage well off
next to 1698 Path Valley Rd. A defensive attack was made due to
a structural collapse. Crews brought the blaze under control
within an hour. Members remained on scene extinguishing hot
spots. Command released SQ41 at 4:07am. |

MVA and House Fire
Nov 25th - SQ41 and E43 found one auto
into a tree in the 500 block of Siloam Rd around 7:45am. One
person was turned over to EMS. Roughly 3 hours later, T42 was
alerted for the house fire at 14,236 Shimpstown Rd in Co 9's
first due. The caller gave an incorrect address which sent units
in the wrong direction. Co 9 arrived to find fire in the walls
of the two story home. T42 vented the roof and assisted with
overhaul on the first floor. Members went in service at 1:10pm.
T42 had to be towed out Dave's Truck Repair after getting stuck. |

MVA
Nov 24th - SQ41
assisted Co 1 on this MVA in the 700 block of Stouffer Ave.
Units arrived to find a passenger car and a mini-van head on.
Members cribbed the car and helped EMS with removing 2 patients
before returning to service at 1:30pm. |

House Fire
Nov 23rd -
SQ41 responded into Co 7's first due for the house fire. Units
arrived at 2:50pm to find a 2 story home with smoke showing.
Members found fire in the walls of the old time log home. SQ41
opened up the interior and the exterior wall on side C while Co
7 and 17 took care of extension in the attic. E43 transferred to
Co 7 during the incident. Both units returned to service around
4:30pm. A furnace malfunction at 944 LWW put CO into the office
and break area of a department store causing one person to
become ill. E43, T42 and E45 cleared the box at 8:51pm. SU44 and
E43 responded for the outside investigation at 10:21pm. Crews
found a small brush fire in the 1000 block of LWW and returned
to service after extinguishing it. |

Christmas Parade
Nov 22nd -
After responding to 2 box alarms and 1 MVA during the day,
members loaded up on Truck 42 along with Utility 44 towing the
Safety Trailer smoking away and headed to the annual Christmas
Parade. |

First Snow
Challenges Drivers
Nov 21th -
As area drivers struggled through white out conditions, Station
4 responded to 6 runs in 7 hours. At 9:31am, SQ41, E43, E45 and Co
8 responded to I-81 mile marker 12 for a MVA involving several
tractor trailers. Units confirmed several trucks in the median
but found no injuries. Enroute E45 located a second accident at
mm14 involving a tractor trailer and a passenger car. E45 found
a pregnant female injured and requested EMS at 9:46am. Units
cleared both MVA's shortly after 10am. SQ41 and Co 17 responded
to 2391 New Franklin Rd for the MVA at 10:27am. Co 17 found a
mini-van into a fence and placed SQ41 in service. The day
wouldn't be complete without an AFA at 2075 Scotland Ave. E43
and T42 cleared the AFA at 1:53pm. SQ41 and Co 1 responded to
1500 S. Main St for an industrial accident at 3:06pm. Units
found the victim free from the machinery upon arrival and turned
the scene over to EMS. SQ41 backed into the station shortly
before the 15-81-7 box was dispatched for a MVA with entrapment.
Co 15 arrived at 3:40pm to find a pick up into the rear of a
tractor trailer with one fatality. A box alarm at 1:30am on the
22nd sent E43 and T42 to 485 Warmspring Rd for the odor of
smoke. Crews found the source to be electrical. |

Rollover and
Confinement
Nov 19th -
SQ41 and E43 responded to Walker Rd and Kohler Rd at 6:35am for
the MVA. Units found a passenger car in the field with no one
around and quickly returned to service. A small brush fire sent
SU44 and E43 to the 3700 block of Letterkenny Rd around 9:30am.
SQ41 and E43 arrived to find a 350Z laying in a ditch in the
intersection Majestic Drive and Sollenberger Rd at 2:35pm. The
driver was able to get out of the vehicle with minor injuries.
Another accident on Walker Rd at I-81 found an SUV vs a
mini-van. SQ41 and E43 extricated one person from the SUV in 6
minutes and returned to service at 4:15pm. |

MVA's
Nov 18th - SQ41 and E43 were alerted for the MVA
involving a school bus at 7:21am. Units arrived at Falling
Spring Rd and Shady Side Drive to find a passenger car under the
bus. Crews confirmed no one on the bus was injured and returned
to service. Co 7 and SQ41 responded to Third Ave and Woodstock
Rd for the MVA with possible entrapment around 3:15pm. Units
arrived to find one auto into a tree with no entrapment. A
closer look shows the fence post went through the windshield and
into the passenger's seat. Luckily no one was sitting there at
the time of the crash. |

Truck 42 On The House Fire
Nov 17th -
Originally dispatched to transfer to Cumberland County 53's
quarters, T42 was requested to the scene of this house fire at
463 East King Street. Shippensburg units made a good attack on
the fire. Members staged before returning to service at 3:51am.

Cut Job With Co 7
Nov 13th - SQ41 was operating on the scene of a MVA at
Edenville and Johnson Roads when Communications dispatched a MVA
with possible entrapment in the 2000 block of LWE. SQ7 was out
of service so SQ41 went in service at 4:38pm and responded to
LWE. Co 7 found 2 autos with one person confined. SQ41 and E7-1
removed 2 doors and the B post to extricate the driver. |

One Trapped Under The Car
Nov 12th - The fifth run of the day sent Squad 41
along with Co 1 to Loudon and Cedar Streets for the pedestrian
struck. Units arrived at 9:56pm to find a bicyclist stuck under
an SUV. SQ41 cribbed the vehicle then lifted with the airbags.
The patient was removed in 10 minutes and turned over to EMS. |

Extrication With A
Chain Saw
Nov 10th -
A vehicle traveling in the 1700 block of LWW left the roadway,
went over the guardrail and down an embankment. SQ41, SU44 and
E45 arrived at 6:40am to find the vehicle wedged in the trees
and brush with the driver stuck inside. Members used a chain saw
to cut a path to the car and around the driver's door freeing
the occupant. |

Third Box Alarm Is Well Off
Nov 6th -
Sta4 responded to three box alarms by 11am. At 7:55am, E45
responded to 2491 Hafer Rd for the mobile home fire. Co 7 was
first due and found fire on the front porch. The fire was
contained to a small area and Command 7 held Co 7. The next box
was in Co 11's first due for smoke in building on Broad Mountain
Rd. SQ41 responded on this box at 10:36am. At 10:41am,
Communications dispatched Station 4 for a structure fire at 3115
Keefer Rd. SQ41 was released from the 11 box to respond along
with E45 and E43 on the structure fire. SQ41 reported a working
fire from several miles away. E45 and E43 arrived to find 280' x
40' structure with fire showing from end to end. Members made an
aggressive attack on the south end of the building to protect a
large exposure full of animals. The fire was brought under
control within an hour but crews remained on scene until 3:51pm
to overhaul the structure. Units from Co 1, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14,
17, 18, 51, 52 and 100 assisted on the two alarm blaze. One
firefighter was treated on scene for heat exhaustion.

House Fire
Nov 5th -
SQ41 responded into Co 1's first due for the house fire at 48 N.
Federal St. Units arrived at 3:17pm to find fire showing from
the rear of the two story home. Members found the fire on the
first floor and assisted with advancing the attack line. Command
1 reported people possibly trapped on the second floor. SQ41
searched but no one was located. Units were in service at
4:31pm. |

Auto Overturned
Nov 4th -
SQ41 and E45 responded for the MVA in the intersection of
Philadelphia Ave and Cumberland Highway at 6am. Engine 13-1 was
returning from a prior incident and arrived to find a pick up on
its side with confinement. Sta4 units arrived and crews
stabilized the vehicle then removed the windshield to free the
driver. |

Auto Over A Cliff With Entrapment
Nov 2nd - Members responded to 5 runs Sunday including
this MVA. Co 9 was alerted for a MVA in the 16000 block of LWW
around 4:45pm. Rescue Engine 9 arrived to find an auto left the
roadway rolled 75' down the mountain struck a tree and pinned
the driver. Command 9 requested additional resources which
brought Fulton County 56 and SQ41. Crews from 9 and 56
extricated the patient. SQ41 secured the patient in a stokes
basket and brought them up the steep embankment. Original
reports of one person ejected were found to be negative after
crews searched the area. Command 9 released SQ41 at 5:45pm. |

Fire Showin'
Nov 1st -
E43 and E45 were alerted on the 8 Box for a house fire.
Co 8 arrived at 2620 Warmspring Rd with fire showing and put a
line on it. Members backed up Co 8 then worked with several
other companies to overhaul the structure. Units returned to
service at 3:02pm and ended the day with 4 runs. |
