Two
Year Construction Project Starts With A Bang
April 15th -
Work has just begun on a two year project
on I-81 and members spent the afternoon running auto accidents on
and around I-81. With SQ41 out of service the engines handled 4
MVA's. The first accident was at 9:47am in front of 2060
Philadelphia Ave. E43 found 1 patient. The real traffic problems
started when a tractor trailer traveling south on I-81 in the area
of mm18 crossed over the median, drove through a 4 foot Jersey
barrier, flipped over and came to rest blocking the entire
northbound lane. One person was ejected from the cab and another was
still inside when E43 arrived at 11:30am. Amazingly no other
vehicles were involved. Approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel
spread across the interstate when the fuel tank was ripped off the
semi. SQ7, SQ8 and E17-1 assisted on the accident. I-81 was shut
down most of the day causing extremely long traffic back ups
throughout the county. E45 responded to another tractor trailer
accident on I-81 at 3:57pm and found just a semi stuck in the
median. E45 also responded to 3653 LWE to assist Co 7 with a two car
accident at 4:34pm. |
