MVA, Box Alarm, Fuel Spill

Aug 30th -
Members were kept busy in the evening hours with a MVA on I81 at 1824hrs. Station 4 arrived to find 1 auto into the rear of a parked construction crane. While operating on the MVA, at 1851hrs communications sounded the Box for smoke coming from the building at 1 Campus Dr at PSU sending T42 and E43. T42 arrived on scene and staged until released by Command 5. With T42 and E43 out of the Station, at 1904hrs SQ41 and E45 handled the fuel spill at 30 Falling Spring Rd. SQ41 and E45 arrived to find a tractor trailer making a turn around, caught the saddle tank underneath and leaked approximately 40gallons of diesel fuel. Hazards were contained with some assistance form Guilford Township. Station 4 cleared at 2035hrs. While returning to the Station EMS was alerted to the Fire House parking lot for the Assault Victim. E45, SQ41, A1-9 staged in the parking lot off of Hood St till CPD secured the scene.

Strip Mall Fire

Aug 22nd -
The second run of the morning came out at 8:05am sending SQ41, T42 and E43 to 815 Wayne Ave for building fire. Co 1 reported a strip mall with heavy smoke showing. SQ41 forced entry, vented and advanced a back up line into side A. T42 set up on side C and after forcing the door found fire in the rear of the restaurant. T42 and E43 vented the roof over the fire then set up lighting.  Members assisted with overhaul operations and cleared at 9:34am.

Fire at the Y

Aug 20th -
SQ41 and T42 assisted Co 1 with fire at the YMCA 4:30pm. Crews found heavy smoke in the basement and a commercial dryer on fire. The fire was contained to the dryer. SQ41 checked for extension and T42 assisted with ventilation.
Path Valley Parade

Aug 19th -
Members handled 4 runs during the day then attended the annual Path Valley Picnic Parade bringing home First Place Truck and Second Place Squad.
Kitchen Fire

Aug 13th -
At 5:47pm, T42, E43 and E45 were alerted on the 7-4 Box for a house fire. Co 7 arrived to find a kitchen fire. T42 handled ventilation and utilities while E43 picked up the hydrant and E45 staged. Members assisted with overhaul, lighting and PPV before returning to service.
"Contrapment"
(one confined and one trapped)

Aug 13th -
After E43 and T42 handled an AFA at 2:25am, SQ41 and E43 were alerted for a MVA with possible entrapment in front of 2106 Philadelphia Ave at 5:37am. Communications advised they received the call from On Star reporting "contrapment". Units arrived to find 2 full size pick up trucks head on with 1 driver confined and the other driver trapped. Command 44 requested air medical to the scene and E13-2 for the LZ. SQ41 and E43 started extrication on both vehicles simultaneously. Members popped the door to free the first patient. A door removal and dash push freed the second patient. Time to extricate two patients in two separate vehicles was 18 minutes. Crews assisted EMS then cleaned up fluid leaks and debris before returning to service at 6:45am. Two hours after the MVA E43, T42 and E45 responded to 95 Kriner Rd for the AFA. Units cleared at 8:53am.
Middle of the Row

Aug 12th -
A major thunderstorm hit the Chambersburg area around 4am sending units all over the Boro for AFA's. T42 cleared an AFA as Sta4 was dispatched to 2964 Filmore Dr for a house fire at 5:21am. E43 arrived to find a 2 story middle of the row with smoke showing from Side A. E43 laid out and stretched a line into 2964 while E13-2 stretched into 2966. Members found fire running the overhang on side C and fire in the attic. T42 threw the aerial to the roof and ladders on side C. Crews inside began opening up as T42 was venting the roof. Co 15 overhauled side C and inside 2966. Co 17 took Exposures. Co 53 assisted with opening up. Co 11 assisted with overhaul ops inside 2964. Crews contained the fire to 2964 and 2966 Filmore Dr with minor damage to 2962 and 2968. The cause is believed to be another lightning strike. Sta4 cleared at 8:50am. E43 and T42 were back out at 11:50am to 261 Lindman Dr. Members found food on the stove. SQ41 and T42 responded into Co 1's first due for a reported kitchen fire at 3:28pm. E1-4 arrived at 221 Garfield St with a 2 story duplex with smoke showing. SQ41 reported fire out on arrival with moderate smoke conditions. Crews vented the structure then went in service.
MVA

Aug 10th -
E43 responded on this auto accident at 10:39am. Units arrived at 8632 LWW to find 1 vehicle into a pole. E43 assisted EMS with loading 2 patients and fluid leaks before returning to service.

Possible Lightning Strike

Aug 4th -
The second call of the day came out at 7:13pm for a house fire at 2974 Molly Pitcher Highway South. Co 8 arrived to find a 2 story single family with fire showing. E43, E45 and SQ41 arrived all at once. E43 advanced a line in side A and began hitting the fire on Division 1. E45 stretched a 300' line to side C and cooled a large propane cylinder that was burning. SQ41 vented and started searching the second floor. Command 8 was forced to evacuate the structure for a short time until the propane leak was controlled. Members from Sta4 and several departments rotated crews thru a very extensive overhaul operation. Units cleared at 10:52pm.
Building Fire

Aug 2nd -
E45, T42 and SQ41 responded on the 8-3-4 Box at 11:43am. Co 8 arrived at 5773 Colorado St and reported 3 story commercial building with heavy smoke showing. E45 advanced a line to the side C and extinguished fire in the hopper. T42 set up on side A. SQ41 assisted T42 with opening the roof.
