Junior FF Academy

July 31st -
Congratulations to the all members of the 2010 Junior Firefighter Academy for completing the week long course.

Hot Get-A-Way Car

July 30th -
E45 and SU44 were dispatched for a brush fire at 11:25am. Units arrived at 4715 Fort McCord Rd to find roughly an acre involved. Crews were able to contain the fire quickly. At 1:50pm, E45 responded for the normal vehicle fire on Siloam Rd. As units responded they noted a large amount of Police activity in the area. While members were extinguishing the auto, it was reported that this vehicle was stolen then used in a bank robbery before being torched. At least one "bad guy" was caught before the fire was even out. Two minutes after clearing the auto fire, E45 responded to 1206 Arbor Ridge for the AFA 2:36pm. An hour later SQ41 responded for a MVA in the 7100 block of LWE. Members were back in quarters for 30 minutes before E45 headed out on another AFA at 1436 LWE. E45 transferred to Co 7 for a little over an hour from 5:27pm to 6:51pm. A 9:41 call for a MVA sent SQ41 and E45 to I-81.

Softball and More

July 24th -
Congratulations to the Station 4 softball team on battling 100* temps and finishing second in the Adams County Tournament. With 20 plus members at the tournament, a 10 man crew handled 6 runs, including 2 brush fires, 1 motorcycle accident, 1 pedestrian struck and 2 AFA's.
Fork Lift Fire

July 22th -
SQ41 and T42 responded on the 1-01 box at 9:57pm for fire in the building at TB Woods. A fork lift caught fire inside however employees were able to drag it outside. Co 1 and SQ41 arrived to find a fork lift fully involved. There was no extension into the building and units were back in service at 10:27pm.

 
 
Cut Job

July 13th -
A 5:17am MVA sent SQ41 to 6097 LWW. Co 18 arrived to find 1 confined. SQ41 stabilized the vehicle and after removing the drivers door, assisted EMS with removing the patient.
6 Seems To Be The Number

July 12th -
Crews hit 6 runs again today. E45 and SQ41 were first with an auto fire inside the car wash on LWW at 10:59am. E45, E43 and T42 got back to back AFA's at 11:27am and 11:59am. SQ41 and E45 responded on the 7-5 Box to 1728 Black Gap Rd at 1:38pm. Co 7 find a small electrical fire and held E7-1 and SQ41. SQ41 controlled utilities and set up ventilation. T42 transferred to Co 53 from 4:34pm to 7:13pm. E45, E43 and T42 from Co 53 responded for the 3rd AFA of the day at 5:29pm. Members ended the day with a quick extrication drill which included removing 4 doors, 2 seats, the roof and lifting the dash.
Another 6 Run Day

July 9th -
Members racked up 6 more runs on Friday. SQ41 responded to 304 E. Liberty St at 11:24am for the gas leak in a house. After assisting with ventilation the Squad was back in service. At 12:50pm and 1:37pm, E45 and T42 went to 5275 Lockaber Ave for an AFA. E45 transferred to Co 52 at 4:35pm. E45 returned to service in time to assist SQ41 with a gasoline leak at 2324 Philadelphia Ave. Crews found a hole in the tank of a passenger car and contained the leak. SQ41 got the final run at 11:30pm for a possible house fire but were cancelled enroute due to a bad address.
Running in the Morning

July 8th -
Sta4 caught 4 runs in 2 hours this morning then added 2 more in the evening. SQ41 and T42 got the day started at 9:24am with a Box Alarm in the Boro. Units arrived at 132. E. Catherine St to find a mattress fire. Command 1 held it to Co 1 and the Squad. At 9:37am, E45, T42 and SQ41 responded to 2211 LWW for an AFA. SQ41 was back in the Boro at 10:24 for another Box Alarm. This time for an electrical fire at 900 Wayne Ave, Sheetz. Members found the MTO sign smoking and shut it down. SQ41 responded at 11:18am to 3063 New Franklin Rd for a MVA. SU17 found 1 auto into a pole with wires down and placed the Squad in service. Around 4pm, E45 assisted PSP in the 4100 block of Fort McCord Rd. E45 and T42 finished the day with another AFA at 6:35pm.
11 Runs Including 4 Fires

July 5th -
Members responded on 3 fires in less than 3 hours and 1 more at the end of the day.
Franklin County started jumping at 1:20am with a working house fire at 7970 LWE. Co 7 arrived to find a 2 story single family with heavy fire showing. SQ41 assisted with cutting off the fire in the middle of the house and another line on side C. Crews from several departments operated until 4:08am to extinguish the fire. E45 transferred to Co 7. The second blaze was dispatched at 2:50am for 4606 Coontown Rd. Co 18 and 8 arrived to find a single story single family home with fire from end to end. E43 and UT44 worked with Co 8 and 18 to bring the fire under control. Crews were on scene until 4:08am. With apparatus in the county scattered everywhere, a third fire erupted at 4:08am in the rear of 465 LWW. SU44 and E1-52 arrived to find a 2 story apartment building with fire showing on the second floor side C. SU44 assisted 52 with advancing the attack line. SQ41 sent a crew to search the first and second floor while a second crew assisted with opening the roof. E45 and E43 responded from the previous fires and assisted units with extensive overhaul operations. E45 responded to 1122 Wayne Rd for an AFA at 7:47am. Members got a break before the afternoon shift started. E45, T42 and E43 handled a residential fire alarm at 1084 Locust St just after 3pm. Just before 4pm, SU44 responded to and extinguished a mulch fire at 140 S. Federal St. SQ41 responded on a MVA at 8:17pm. The final job was dispatched at 11:08pm sending SQ41 to 6019 Chambersburg Rd. Units arrived to find fire showing from single story commercial building. SQ41 vented the windows, threw ladders, shut off utilities, set up lighting then split crews. Team B assisted with extinguishment and overhaul ops. Team A cut holes on side A and the roof then assisted with overhaul ops. E45 transferred to Co 7 then responded to the scene and worked with SQ41. Units cleared at 2:31am.
