MVA With Confinement And Multiple Patients
Nov 30th -
This MVA in front of 1600 LWE
was one of 5 runs for Sta4 on Tuesday. SQ41 and E45
arrived at 7:22pm to find a pick up and SUV head on
with 7 people injured. Command 44 requested a total
of 6 BLS units, 3 ALS units and 2 helicopters. SQ41
removed one door to free the driver of the pick up.
Members assisted EMS with packaging and loading
victims before returning to service at 8pm. |

Box Alarm
Nov 29th -
SQ41, T42 and E45 were alerted on Co 1's
box to 64 W. Catherine St for the house fire at 3:02pm. Units
arrived to find residents trapped inside. SQ41 forced entry and
removed 2 occupants then found a small fire in the second floor
bathroom with no extension. Units were back in service at
3:32pm. |

MVA
Nov 27th -
This 9am auto accident was originally
reported with no injuries but eventually required an engine
company, an ambulance and fire police. |

Woods, Porch, 5 Car MVA
Nov 24th -
Residents woke shortly before 7am to find
2 to 3 acres of woods burning next to their home. Sta4 found a
fast moving fire on arrival and began stretching lines to knock
it down. E45, SU44, E43 and SQ41 were assisted by Co 8, 18, 7
and 14. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in
roughly an hour but remained on scene for mop up until 10:28am.
After a quick stop for breakfast and clean up, SQ41 was put out
for the building fire at 12:32pm. Units arrived at 101 Glen St
to find fire on the second story porch. SQ41 removed 2 occupants
then assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. SQ41 and E45
were out the door again at 1:39pm for a MVA at 7635 LWW. Members
arrived to find 5 vehicles involved. Crews assisted EMS with
loading 2 patients and cleared the hazards. Units were in
quarters for about 15 minutes when E45 and T42 responded for the
AFA at 1500 Northfield Dr. |

Box, WFD, Med, MVA, MVA, Box
Nov 22nd -
The Franklins were hit out for 6 runs on
Monday. E45, T42 and E43 started with a fire next to the house
at 8am. Command 17 found no extension into the house and placed
Sta4 available. Truck 42 was out again at 9:41am on the WFD to
9238 Otterbein Church Rd. Members set up RIT and threw ladders.
Crews made it back in time to run a medical on E45 at 11:32am. A
2 car crash in the 1300 block of LWE at 2:02pm and 2 more cars
in the 900 block of LWW at 5:22pm brought SQ41 and E45 2 runs
each. SQ41 would get the last run of the day at 8:32pm with a
box to 65 N. Main St. |

Two Crashes, One Cut Job and One Almost
Nov 20th -
I-81 was shut down in both directions for
several hours due to separate incidents. The first accident
occurred at 7:04pm under the Lighthouse Rd bridge as an SUV
struck the bridge support and pinned the driver. SQ41 worked on
the driver's side of the vehicle as SQ8 worked on the
passenger's side. E45 shut down the south bound lane for LifeNet
81 to land. Crews removed both doors on the driver's side and
lifted the dash. Several tools and cuts were needed to free the
driver's feet as members worked around the bridge support. Once
the driver was free and air lifted from the scene, Sta4 units
returned to service. Exactly 2 hours after the first accident,
SQ41 and E45 were alerted for another crash on 81. After
traveling the wrong way on 81, SQ41 arrived at mm14 to find a
tractor trailer had crossed from the local lane of traffic thru
the express lane and jersey wall into the northbound lane. The
truck drove over the hood of an SUV and pushed it into the
jersey wall. All occupants were able to self extricate and were
checked by EMS. SQ41, E45 and SQ8 controlled fluid leaks. I-81
was again shut down in both directions but this time it will be
for an extended period. |

Truck 42 Runs Two Fires
Nov 14th -
T42 began a 5 run day with a box to 18 N.
Washington St in Shippensburg at 10:03am. T42 headed back to
Ship at 5:33pm for the house fire. Members set up RIT for about
an hour. While T42 was in Ship, E45 and E43 responded on the box
alarm at 1024 Warmspring Rd. Units found a furnace malfunction.
T42 was hit out for the second fire at 8:39pm. Co 9 arrived at
14 Loudon Rd with a 2 story wood frame structure off. Members
laddered the building, assisted with overhaul and set up
lighting. E45 transferred to Co 18 during the 9 box. All units
were back home by 10:30pm. |

More Back To Back MVA's
Nov 13th -
SQ41 and E45 responded for the auto into
the building at 3:14pm. Units arrived at 412 Park Circle to find
a passenger car bounced off the apartment building and came to
rest in the front yard. Members assessed the structure and
declared it safe before returning to service. At 3:43pm, SQ41
and E45 were alerted for a second MVA. Units arrived at
Warmspring and Tallow Hill to find two autos in a rear end
collision. Crews controlled hazards and assisted EMS with
packaging 2 patients. |

My Smoking Chair
Nov 12th -
One minute after midnight Sta4 was alerted
for the inside investigation of smoke. Command 44 arrived to
find a 2 story apartment building with smoke showing and 1
occupant still inside. Members removed a 1st floor resident then
found a smoldering chair. Command 44 held it with E45 and T42.
SQ41 responded for the reported mobile home fire at 12585 Main
St Fort Loudon. Command 9 found a furnace malfunction and held
Co 9 at 7:58am. Sta4 ended the day with an AFA at 8:04pm. |

Nov 8th -
After a MVA on the Turnpike at 12:28pm,
SQ41, E45 and E43 responded to 3 accidents in 35 minutes.
Members were alerted first to 3484 Letterkenny Rd at 5:47pm
where they found 2 autos off the roadway with minor injuries.
The second MVA came out at 6:08pm for a tractor trailer vs an
auto on I-81. The vehicles were GOA. A third MVA was dispatched
at 6:20pm. Units arrived at Boyer Mill and Warmspring with 2
autos, 1 into a pole and 1 into a tree. SQ41 hit run number 5 at
8:05pm when it and T42 responded for the church fire. Units
arrived at Second and McKinley to find nothing showing. SQ41 did
a 360 and reported no fire evident. After making entry, Command
1 called it good intent and all units returned to service. |

Chimney Fires
Nov 5th -
Sta4 responded to 6 runs on Friday
starting with AFA's at 5:45am and 10:47am. At noon, SQ41 was
called to assist PSP with forcible entry on a check the welfare
call. Members made entry and found the occupant had passed away
several days prior. E45, SQ41 and E43 responded to 8466 Diehls
Woods Rd at 5:39pm for the chimney fire. Co 18 confirmed no
extension and held it with 18 and Sta4. SQ41 took the roof and
units were in service 6:15pm. After serving 300 people at a fund
raiser, SQ41 was out the door to 127 Glen St for smoke in the
dwelling. Crews found an appliance malfunction. E45, T42 and E43
were dispatched for another chimney fire at 8:58pm. Units
arrived at 1970 Blakewood Dr to find fire showing from the
chimney. E45 advanced a line while T42 laddered the roof. After
confirming no extension, Command 44 held it with Sta4 and 13.

Auto Fire
Nov 4th -
Around midnight, E45, E43 and SQ41
responded for the auto fire to the rear of 2375 Philadelphia
Ave. Units found fire in the passengers compartment of an SUV.
Crews were able to control the fire quickly and were back in
service at 12:26am. With heavy rain in the area, SQ41, E45 and
T42 racked up 3 more runs before noon. |

Which One Is The Gas?
Nov 2nd -
Co 1 and SQ41 were alerted at 11:08am for
the MVA with entrapment. Units arrived at the rear of 305 West
Commerce St to find an SUV with major damage but no entrapment.
The SUV smashed into a parked tractor trailer pushing the
windshield back to meet the passengers headrest. Some how the
driver and passenger escaped injury. |
