Where Is It?
Oct 27th -
SQ41 responded for the reported house fire
at 5:47am. After some confusion on the address, E13-1 arrived at
5289 Cumberland Highway to find a single story semi-detached
dwelling with light smoke showing. Crews found a dryer on fire
in the basement. SQ41 vented the first floor and basement before
returning to service. |

Drill Time
Oct 18th -
After 4 runs during the day, E43, E45, T42
and SQ41 headed out for Monday night's drill. E45 set up a draft
site using the side and front intakes while flowing T42's pipe
and a monitor nozzle. |

Auto Off
Oct 17th -
Sta4 responded to 5 runs on Saturday
including a child in cardiac arrest, a MVA, an AFA, a brush fire
and the vehicle fire shown below. SQ41 responded with E1-2 at
12:49pm to 1 Monticello Ct for the auto. Units found the vehicle
pictured below well off in the parking lot.

Four Rigs, Four Runs, One Hour
Oct 11th -
Station 4 cleared the incident below then
responded to four more runs in an hour. E43, T42 and E45 were
put out for the AFA at 740 Menno Village at 6:45pm. Units found
the usual food on the stove. While returning to quarters, SQ41
and E43 responded with Co 1 for the investigation at 190 Mill
Rd. Crews arrived at 7:05pm to find fuel oil leaking from a
maintenance room and isolated the leak then began cleaning it
up. E45 and T42 were preplanning the Fright Night Haunted House
when E45 was put out for back to back med locals in the boro at
7:27pm and 7:45pm. |

3 Ejected
Oct 11th -
SQ41 and E43 responded on the Interstate
assignment for the auto accident at 4:33pm. Units arrived to
find 2 passenger cars off the roadway. Crews found 2 children
and 1 adult ejected and 3 more adults injured. Command 44
requested 6 BLS units, 3 ALS units and 2 helicopters to the
scene. Members from SQ41 and SQ8 assisted the EMS units with
treatment and packaging. E43 shut down the south bound lane at
exit 14 and E8-1 handled the LZ for LifeNet 8-1 and LifeLion 3.
Two people were air lifted to trauma centers and the rest were
ground transported to area hospitals. |

Fire Prevention Week Ends
Oct 7th -
In between runs, members finished up fire
prevention week with a visit to South Hamilton Elementary where
the kids are always happy to see the big green fire engines. |

Ten Run Day
Oct 6th -
T42 and SQ41 were out the door at 4:22am
for a reported chimney fire. Sta4 units were placed in service and
dispatched to Vision Quest for the building fire. Co 16 reported
fire showing from a single story structure. T42 assisted crews
with locating fire in the walls and ceiling. SQ41 took RIT then
overhaul ops. E43 transferred to Co 16. Members operated for 2
hours before returning to service at 7:10am. SQ41 and E43
weren't in service long before being dispatched to Short Cut Rd
for a MVA at 7:41am. Members found 2 autos and 2 injuries. E43
transferred to Co 13 at 11:03am. At 1:02pm, E43, SQ41 and SU44
responded for the vehicle fire. Units found a piece of
construction equipment on fire in a field and quickly
extinguished it. SQ41 was put out for another MVA at 3:58pm and
E43 went on a box at 5:38pm. Co 7 reported a 2 story townhouse
with smoke showing. Crews found a faulty appliance. E43 removed
it and vented naturally before returning. E43, T42 and E45 ended
the day with 2 more runs at 7:14pm and 8:19pm. |

The Afternoon Shift
Oct 4th -
Members kept running after the morning
fire. Crews began Fire Prevention week with a visit to Hamilton
Heights School then SQ41 released one child from a locked auto
at 1:42pm. SQ41 responded to a MVA at 6:55pm in the intersection
of Second and Catherine Streets. Co 1 found no entrapment and
released the Squad. Truck 42 was alerted on the 9 box at 11pm
for the inside investigation. Co 9 found food on the stove. |

Morning Mobile Home Fire
Oct 4th -
E45, T42, E43 and SQ41 responded at 7:54am
for the mobile home fire. Chief 18 reported fire showing. E45
advanced a line in side A and encountered heavy fire conditions.
T42 vented the windows and began opening up. E43 supplied E18-1
and assisted with overhaul. SQ41 also assisted with overhaul
ops. Members were able to knock down the fire in roughly 20
minutes. Units remained on scene until 9:30am. SQ41 and E43 were
back out the door at 10:30 for the MVA on I-81. SQ41 found 1
auto into the jersey wall with no injuries. |

T-42 Covers For T-1
Oct 3rd -
Twenty minutes after SQ41 and E45 cleared
a MVA. SQ41 and T42 responded to 236 Mill Rd for the Chimney
Fire. T42 laddered the roof and checked the flue. Crews found it
to be a furnace malfunction and cleared at 9:45am. T42 was
alerted on another run with Co 1 at 11:43am. |

Box Alarm At Nursing Home
Oct 2nd -
The 3rd of 6 runs on the day was
dispatched to the usual 2075 Scotland Ave only this time it
wasn't an AFA. E45 and T42 responded first due on the box for
the odor of something burning in the nursing home. E45 entered
side A and T42 set up on side C. Members found a small fire
inside an oven and held Sta4. Units cleared at 6:37pm and
responded to another building on the property where they found
food on the stove. |

Box Alarm At Health Care Building
Oct 1st -
T42's second run of the day was to 757
Norland Ave at 3:53pm. SQ41 also responded on the box and
assisted Co 1 with investigating smoke on the first floor. T42
set up on side C and checked the roof. Crews found a faulty AC
unit to be the cause. While units were on the box, E45 covered a
MVA for Co 1 in the 600 block of LWW. E45 found 2 vehicles in
the roadway along with 2 patients. Members assisted EMS with
packaging. Units cleared the box and the MVA at 4:30pm. |
