“Future Hogs”
The Franklin Fire Company’s Junior Member Program was established in October of 1978 by Mike Preisler. The purpose of the Junior Membership is train young members in Firefighting, Emergency Medical Service, Rescue operations, and Fire Company duties/responsibilities so that at the age of 18 they can be taken into full company membership with only minimum additional training requirements. Members must be between 14 – 17 years of age. They are considered non-paid employees for the purposes of the Child Labor Laws and are divided into two groups (14-15 years of age and 16-17 years of age) in relation to what they can legally do as members. Any child 17 years of age that has graduated from high school or has been declared by the school administrator to have achieved their educational limits (dropped out) are no longer under the control of the Child Labor Laws.

Some of the duties Junior Members must fulfill are:
1. Will attend drills and training session.
2. Will attend monthly meetings.
3. Will work at least one
Company Bingo and at least
one Junior Member
50-50 each month.
4. Will sign in and out of the station using the Log Book.
5. Will help at Company Fund Raising and Social events.
6. Will help with Public Relation/ Public Education events.
7. Will change water/ice in the coolers.
8. Will assist in apparatus/engine room clean-up and other activities as
directed by Company Officers. these minimal requirements to ride. C.P.R
