Fire Officers

Mark Trace – Fire Chief

Mark has been a member of the Franklin Fire Company for 28 years. He has been an officer for 23 years, including 16 years as Fire Chief. He has also served as Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, and Captain. Outside of the Franklins, Mark is a Lieutenant for DC Fire Department.

Travis Miller – Deputy Chief

Travis has been a member of the Franklin Fire Company for 29 years. 2023 is his 9th year as an officer. Prior to becoming Deputy Chief, Travis also served as Sergeant and Assistant Chief. Outside of Station 4, Travis is a Lieutenant for DC Fire Department.

Dave Olson – 1st Assistant Chief

Dave has been a member at Station 4 for 16 years and has been an officer for 9 years. Besides serving as Assistant Chief, Dave has also held the position of Deputy Chief and Captain. Outside of the Franklin Fire Company, Dave is a Lieutenant at Washington County Department of Emergency Services.

McKenzie “Wink” Winklbauer – 2nd Assistant Chief

Wink has been a member of the Franklin Fire Company for 13 years. 2023 is his sixth year as an officer. He also served as Lieutenant and Captain before becoming 2nd Assistant Chief. Outside of Station 4, Wink is a Firefighter/EMT at Fort Belvoir and owns and operates M. Winklbauer Carpentry.

Owen Ranck – Captain

Owen has been a member of the Franklin Fire Company for 9 years. 2023 is his sixth year as an officer. Before becoming Captain, Owen also served as Sergeant and Lieutenant. Outside of Station 4, he is a Firefighter/EMT at Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Matt Bigler – Lieutenant

Matt has been a member of the Franklin Fire Company for 17 years and has been an officer for 7 years. Prior to becoming Lieutenant in 2021, he also served as Sergeant and Assistant Chief. Outside of Station 4, Matt works for the Chambersburg Borough Street Department.

Colby Miller – Sergeant 44-1

Colby has been a member of the Franklin Fire Company for 5 years. 2023 is his third year holding the position of Sergeant. Last year, Colby served as Sergeant 44-2. Outside of Station 4, Colby is a Firefighter/EMT for Arlington County Fire Department.

Justin Verdier – Sergeant 44-2

Justin has been a member of the Franklin Fire Company for 6 years. 2023 is his second year holding the position of Sergeant. Outside of Station 4, Justin works at Servpro
